After a relaxing Thanksgiving holiday, the SWAT Team was back in action updating their personal pages. Please make sure to visit their pages!

This week S.W.A.T. Team members began working on their personal pages. To view these pages, click on MEET THE TEAM to learn more about these budding tech savvy kids. Every week the Team will add elements to their pages, so check back often to see their progress in web design.

The SWAT team members were all a buzz today as they learned how to check for wireless connections on laptops. Because the school has been outfitted with Dell computers, there are specific steps needed to be taken to insure the wireless is working. 

Ms. Bowens' teaching style is a mixture of hands on physical work, an oral review and a handout for them to take home and show their parents. Without her expertise in technology and teaching the SWAT team would be lost without her.

Revisiting the theme of technology key terms and the correct steps into logging on e-mails, SWAT team members learned how to make the Orleans Parish School Board's web site their homepage. In addition to this, members visited an interactive site Ms. Perry found the deals with internet terms. 

Today Ms. Britten and TeachUp! Media Integration Intern Ms. Perry subbed for Ms. Bowens. SWAT Team Members received their official business cards and learned how to access their e-mails. Ms. Bowens sent members letters of congratulations and members replied. 

In addition to welcoming the members to the team, Ms. Bowens directed them to Growing with Technology, an interactive web site that teaches computer/technology-related terms members will use.

This week SWAT members received their credit sheets  and Sponsor Bowens explained how they worked. Students are to perform weekly tasks of assisting their teachers with technology questions. Their teachers then have to record their tasks.

Leading up to this week, Sponsor Bowens had the hard task to choosing about one dozen students - at least in the second grade - to be a part of this dynamic new club. Students took head shoots and begin filling out their information for their official SWAT member club cards.
